Those are my favorite days because they remind me of when I had a “job.” When I too had to rush to work in the morning.

It does my soul much good just to watch all those people. Hurrying around. Running around like chickens with their heads cut off. I haven’t done that for years. And I know it’s a little twisted. But I get a secret pleasure from watching those people. Knowing that I’ll never — ever — do that again.

I’m typing this on the same computer I use to sell hundreds of thousands of dollars of products on. It’s an exhilarating business. There’s nothing like selling products around the world.

I knew this was the business for me because of the super-low overhead. If you’ve ever owned a business or tried to start one that you lost money on, you can relate to this: One time I owned a retail store. I lost money faster than you can say “get me out of this business!”

My Embarrassing Confession

It’s a little embarrassing to admit this.

I wasted an enormous amount of time, energy and money developing my system. I always wanted to make money selling products. I just wasn’t any good at it for a long time.

For example, I once had a job selling insurance. I got one of those machines that would call people all day long and ask if they wanted free information.

I put 30,000 miles on my car in six months following up on those leads. And sold only one homeowner’s policy on an old, small, wooden-frame house that my company really didn’t want to insure for obvious reasons. The sad thing was, I didn’t understand WHY they were reluctant to write insurance on it! I was just happy I sold something!

I tried everything. I sold stuff door-to-door. I sold timeshare, credit card insurance, home food delivery, advertising, retirement programs — and all kinds of other things.

Times were bad then.

I’ll never forget I had a date with this six-foot tall, drop-dead gorgeous model. She didn’t know I drove a beat-up car that smoked like it was on fire! I took her to this fancy restaurant and the valet guys were laughing until they saw her step out of the car.

Holy smokes!

Unfortunately, I never saw here again.

And there was the time I bought deodorant with all pennies (just two blocks away from where I live now). The man behind the cash register said, “Normally, we don’t accept all pennies. But in your case, I guess I’ll make an exception.”

I ended up buying every single book I could afford on marketing and selling. And some I couldn’t. I literally have read thousands of books. And while I found a few gems (very few), most all of them were worthless. I didn’t know that then. But I realize it now.

Why were they worthless? Because the book author didn’t have a proven system or formula for selling products. And if he or she did, that information certainly wasn’t shared in the book.

It’s a long story. But simultaneously two things happened: One, stumbled across a formula for selling products that really worked. And two, I discovered selling on the computer.

It was as though I finally put two-and-two together. God knows it took long enough. Anyway, in short order, my luck turned around. I was hired by a corporation involved in Internet marketing (this was before the World Wide Web existed), to write their marketing promotions. There I met my mentor who had been personally trained by an old-time mail-order legend.

He mentored me as his mentor had done for him. And now it’s your turn and mine. It’s my turn to give back. To mentor others as I have been mentored.

I was only at the Internet company for six months or a year. Then I went out on my own. First, I sold my writing skills. Then I sold products.

It’s almost impossible to describe the feeling when my sales skyrocketed. Wow! What a rush. The first thing I did was pay off a $5,000 credit card bill that had been hanging over my head.

What a relief!

TIDUR DAN SOLAT TAHAJUD
Umumnya manusia mengatakan tidur malam perlu antara enam hingga lapan jam sehari. Tetapi pendapat ini ditolak oleh para saintis Barat seperti Dr Ray Meddis,seorang profesor di Department of Human Sciences, England University of Technology yang mengatakan bahawa manusia sebenarnya perlu tidur malam selama tiga jam sahaja.
Waktu tidur boleh dibahagi kepada dua bahagian – tidur ayam dan tidur lelap. Mimpi biasanya berlaku dalam tidur lelap (deep sleep). Manusia perlu berlatih untuk dapat tidur lelap kerana tidur ayam adalah masa berangan-angan yang membuang waktu sahaja. Tidur yang sebenarnya ialah ketika tidur lelap yang mengikut kajian saintis Barat ialah selam tiga jam.
Kita merasakan bahawa tidur malam kita selalu tidak cukup. Ini kerana kita tidak terlatih atau mengikut peraturan yang perlu diikuti ketika tidur. Apabila seseorang athlit hendak memasuki suatu pertandingan lumba lari dia akan berlatih hampir setahun sebelum perlumbaan itu bermula. Dengan demikian dia ada harapan untuk memungut pingat emas. Demikian jugalah kita mesti melatih diri kita tidur mengikut peraturan.
Mengikut kajian ahli perubatan Barat, Sebelum kita merasa hendak tidur, mula-mula sekali kita akan merasa mengantuk ( drowsiness ) di mana suhu badan kita akan menurun. Dengan mengatur waktu tidur dan menggunakan jangkasuhu kita boleh latihkan diri kita untuk tidur bila perlu. Tidur yang diatur boleh menjimatkan masa kita dan membolehkan kita melakukan ibadah dan kerja-kerja lain.
Rasulullah S.A.W. telah memberikan contoh yang baik untuk tidur lengkap dengan doa-doanya. Bolehlah kita ringkaskan latihan untuk tidur malam seperti :
1. Makan malam yang sedikit sekadar alas perut supaya tidak lapar. Jika kita makan malam yang banyak ianya akan menyebabkan kita cepat mengantuk dan susah bangun dari tidur, sudah tentu kita akan terlebih tidur pula.
2. Tunaikan solat Isya’ sebelum tidur.
3. Bersihkan tempat tidur seperti tilam, bantal dan cadar dari habuk dan lain-lain kotoran.
4. Amalkan doa-doa sebelum dan sesudah tidur seperti yang diajarkan Rasulullah S.A.W.
5. Kurangkan masa tidur dari lapan jam sehari kepada tujuh jam sehari untuk bulan pertama latihan; pada bulan kedua kurangkan masa tidur malam kepada enam jam sehari, seterusnya pada bulan ketiga kepada lima jam sehingga kita boleh tidur untuk masa tiga jam sahaja.
Cara untuk kita tidur dan bangun juga mempunyai peraturan yang perlu diikuti untuk menjaga kesihatan dan mengelakkan diri dari dihidapi pelbagai penyakit. Umpamanya kita yang suka bangun tidur melompat dari tidurnya boleh menghadapi risiko sakit jantung yang boleh membawa maut. Demikian menurut pendapat seorang doktor dari China – Dr Huang Guoxiong dari Kolej Perubatan Lioning.
Di dalam Al-Quran ada menyebut segolongan manusia yang masuk syurga kerana ibadah malamnya dan kurang tidur malam. Firman Allah dalam Al-Quran yang bermaksud : ” Sesungguhnya orang-orang yang bertaqwa ada di dalam syurga dan dekat dengan air yang mengalir. Sambil mengambil apa yang diberi oleh Tuhn mereka. Sesungguhnya mereka sebelum ini di dunia adalah orang-orang yang berbuat baik. Mereka sedikit sekali tidur di waktu malam. Dan di akhir-akhir malam mereka memohon ampun kepada Allah.” ( Surah az-Zariat ayat 15-18  (

IBADAH TENGAH MALAM DAN AWAL PAGI DALAM AGAMA LAIN.
Penulis pernah bertukar-tukar pendapat dengan guru-guru dan ketua agama yang bukan Islam seperti Buddha, Kristian, Tao, Confucious dan Sikh. Dalam perhatian penulis, mereka juga mengadakan amalan pada tengah malam seperti ‘berzikir’ dan membaca kitab suci agama mereka. Untuk mengelak dari rasa
mengantuk, mereka berlatih tidur hanya lebih kurang tiga jam atau empat jam sehari malah ada yang kurang dari itu. Antanra agama yang dimaksudkan itu ialah agama Buddha, Kristian,Tao, Confusies dan Sikh.

Maksudnya ” Pencapaian kerjaya yang tinggi oleh orang-orang ternama tidak didapati serta merta tetapi mereka bekerja keras sehingga larut malam pada waktu sahabat-sahabat mereka sedang nyenyak tidur. “
Ini jelas menunjukkan mereka meminimakan waktu tidur untuk mencapai kejayaan dalam hidup mereka.
Sekarang kita kembali kepada perbincangan solat tahajud. Apakah kebaikan dan kelebihan yang kita perolehi dari mengerjakan solat tahajud sedangkan ketika itulah manusia sedang nyenyak tidur.
Dari segi fikiran logik, kita tidak akan faham bahawa suruhan Allah itu mendatangkan kebaikan. Solat tahajud meneguhkan iman kita, jiwa kita, mental kita untuk menghadapi masalah hidup duniawi dan lain-lain lagi yang Allah Maha Mengetahui.
Dari segi sains perubatan pula, kita akan menyedut oksigen khusus yang wujud di atmosfera bumi antara lebih kurang jam tiga pagi hingga terbit matahari dan menggerakkan otot-otot di dalam badan kita ke arah menyegarkan badan dan melicinkan gerak saliran darah. Kedua-dua oksigen dn gerak otot itu sangat penting dalam memastikan kesihatan tubuh badan manusia. Oksigen itu hilang dari atmosfera bumi selepas matahari terbit dan tidak datang lagi sehingga esok pagi. Hanya manusia yang bangun pada waktu ini dapat menikmati oksigen tersebut. Mereka yang bangun tidur lewat tidat merasa nikmat oksigen ini.

RAHSIA PERGERAKAN OTOT DALAM SOLAT
Cuba kita kaji pergerakan otot-otot kita ketika solat.Secara kasar, pada mula kita berdiri tegak ( qiyam ) kemudian angkat kedua tangan bertakbir dan letakkan tangan di atas pusat – kita telah membesarkan rongga dada kita manakala paru-paru akan terasa luas serta menggerakkan otot di kedua belah tangan.
Ketika ruku’ dengan badan membongkok ke depan dan kedua tangan di atas kepala lutut dan punggung mendatar ( parallel to the ground ) sekaligus ianya menggerakkan ruas-ruas tulang punggung, tulang leher, tulang pinggang dan tulang tungkin.
Waktu sujud pula, seluruh berat badan terpikul sepenuhnya di atas otot-otot kedua-dua tangan, kaki. dada, perut, punggung, leher dan otot-otot kaki. Lihat sahaja pada waktu sujud ini berapa banyak otot dan persendian yang kita gerakkan.
Setelah itu kita bangkit dari sujud. Kita duduk, kemudian kita sujud lagi dan selepas itu kita berdiri kembali. Dalam gerak badan kali ini kita telah secara automatik menggerakkan sejumlah besar otot-otot di dada , bahu, lengan, perut, punggung, peha, kaki bahagian bawah an lain-lain otot lagi.
Selain dari itu kita juga melakukan dua macam duduk – pertama duduk antara dua sujud dan kedua duduk tahiyat. Kedua-dua jenis duduk ini menggerakkan tumit , pangkal peha, kelengkang, jari-jari kaki dan lain-lain. Dalam kita memberi salam juga kita gerakkan otot-otot leher tengkuk dan lain-lain.
Kalau kita lihat dari dua perkara tersebut di atas iaitu mendapatkan oksigen yang istimewa dan gerak otot-otot yang semuanya ini sudah tentu akan memastikan kesihatan tubuh badan kita.
